I’ve been copying my brother since I can remember. He’s sneaking a cookie from the cookie jar while the parents aren’t looking, I’m sneaking a cookie. He’s joining high school sports teams, I’m joining high school sports teams. He’s taking a college study abroad semester, I’m taking a college study abroad semester. This past summer it was the triathlon. It’s not just copying him though; there’s admiration and inspiration and then emulation. And beyond that, he’s always talking me into these things anyway. Sure when we were little it was so that he could take me down w/ him if he got caught in the cookie jar…
So now he’s telling me that we should plan “a year of fitness”. It would entail 10 or so fitness goals and we would blog about them to keep on track. Hmm, I’m definitely interested. He starts writing a column for me and a column for him. We’re compromising on the particulars: how many triathlons, how much time can we realistically take off of running a mile, how far can we bike. I’m mulling over some of these goals and thinking there’s no way I could do this or that. Other things seem possible if I really get committed though. Goals TBD and posted soon…
Fantastic! I know, it all looks so impossible right now, but it’s going to be great to look back at these posts next December 31 and see how far we’ve come. Then we’ll have to make some even more impossible goals! But one year at a time. Good luck Jess!
You are my hero Jess. I wish you all of the fitness vibes in the world. Good luck and maybe one day I will be able to do all of those things too.
